58 The BFI Film Audience Networks New Release Strategy

The New Release Strategy is a BFI Film Audience Network initiative that supports some of the best independent films from across the globe find a place and an audience in cinemas – including Community Cinemas – across the UK.

The strategy was launched in 2016 and featured 5 titles in it’s pilot phase. An evaluation report has been produced which you can read below. Many thanks those who contributed to this.

What’s next for the Strategy?

Plans for the rest of 2017…
  • We are hoping to support 3 films before the end of the year
  • The New Release Strategy support will be focussed on young audiences, defined by BFI as 16-30

Please watch this space and keep an eye on our Basecamp Programmers forum for further details.

In the meantime…

You can still book the previous titles that were part of the scheme and assets/additional support are still available. Below is an overview document of the five titles so far with links to marketing packs, assets, articles hosted on Conversations About Cinema / The Time Is Now.  It’s designed for community cinemas, but may also be useful for people screening one of the titles as part of a special event, discussion around an issue etc.
