Metal presents a newly commissioned film accompaniment to legendary American composer Steve Reich‘s Grammy award winning Different Trains.
Presented at Edge Hill railway station in Liverpool – the oldest active passenger railway station in the world – artist and filmmaker Bill Morrison has created a poetic new film installation from archival film stock depicting train journeys spanning America and continental Europe during WWII.
Open to the public from the15th September – the anniversary of the first ever passenger railway journey – this film will be the first visual accompaniment of this nature ever permitted within the 28 year history of Different Trains.
This new film will also feature as part of a live performance of the Different Trains by Steve Reich, London Contemporary Orchestra and Sound Intermedia at Edge Hill station on Thursday 29th September.
This project is presented by Metal in partnership with Southbank Centre, Liverpool Biennial, Culture Liverpool and Boiler Room.
