Just So Festival is an annual weekend-long camping festival for children and their families, run by Community Interest Company Wild Rumpus. The festival provides a magical experience where art, music and literature are embedded and entwined in a beautiful and wonderous landscape.
They provide a broad range of musical, theatrical, and visual performances, workshops and installations within a safe, natural and magical setting. Every clearing and glade holds a new way to unleash creativity. Families discover and delight in the spectacular within the woodland environment during this weekend camping event.
This year, with support from Film Hub NWC, the festival is opening an area of their site entirely dedicated to film. This area will span a range of art-forms in order to ensure the engagement of a wide range of audience, from learning iconic dance routines to how to sound-track a film, the art of slapstick to film-themed choral workshops.
Underpinning this diverse array of programming will be the screening of a range of classic cinematic pieces, utilizing the afore-mentioned programming as wrap-around material, to capture new audiences and inspire deeper engagement – introducing family audiences to high quality, yet unfamiliar pieces of iconic cinema, building relationships with cinema that is new to them.
Families can recreate scenes from their favourite films, join a musical chorus line, become extras in a Just So production or be given a Hollywood style makeover. Then as night falls you can bring a blanket to enjoy an outdoor cinema experience with silent movies and family classics.
Just So Festival takes place 18-20 August 2017 at Rode Hall in Cheshire.
