In collaboration with Film Hub London, FHNWC are supporting experiential events company We Are Parable to present an ambitious year-long Spike Lee season.

“All directors are storytellers, so the motivation was to tell the story I wanted to tell. That’s what I love.” Spike Lee

Spike Lee is one of the most celebrated icons in cinematic history, having directed over 40 films over a 35-year career.

Born in New York in 1957, 2017 represents a milestone for Lee – his 60th birthday.

To acknowledge this, We Are Parable have created “Spike is 60”, a retrospective film festival, taking place in London and Manchester, from March to November 2017, the year of Spike’s 60th Birthday.

The season in Manchester begins on the 29th April, at HOME Cinema with a one off screening of Bamboozled, Spike Lee’s cutting satire on the creation of a modern day minstrel show. The film very much remains one that is divisive and controversial; perfect, then, for an additional panel discussion, hosted by The British Blacklist, to explore the film’s wider themes.

As the film festival continues, 12 other films will be shown in 10 events over the course of the next 8 months.
