The Hive is an independent registered charity working across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. The organisation has since 2005 operated a unique creative venue in Shrewsbury town centre with a 100 seat performance space, music studio, media studio and gallery space. Through its own venue activity the Hive wants to provide high quality artistic activity for local audiences and communities. It also provides a space for local community groups. In addition to venue activity, the organisation delivers funded creative projects for people in challenging circumstances and especially children & young people.
The Hive is now looking to develop its film audiences through providing an offer of non-mainstream film and talks programme especially aimed at family audiences, young people as well as older people, and in all audience segments also including those with special education needs or disabilities.
The Hive will be trialling a varied programme of film and talks including;
– Family programming with a non-mainstream film offer such as UK or international animation and classic children’s films
– Film programming aimed at young people – but also led by young people
– Special screenings for vulnerable groups such as those with disabilities or older people
The main part of the activity will take place at the Hive’s own venue in Shrewsbury, although it also wants to do screenings in other parts of Shrewsbury and Shropshire. The Hive wants to at the end of the project to have established a quality offer for key audience groups.
