Working with Young Programmers
Friday 4 November (9.30-18.30), Dundee Contemporary Arts
Groups of Young Programmers have sprung up in venues across the UK and can be a great way of encouraging young people to engage with non-mainstream cinema. This comprehensive training day will look at how to get started, from identifying young people and selecting suitable films, to maintaining a group and ensuring opportunities beyond the project. We will also examine how working with Young Programmers can develop a younger audience for venues year round.
This training event will be held in Dundee during the Discovery Film Festival, a leading event for young people which is partly programmed by the Discovery Young Ambassadors.
Led by Nicola Kettlewood, Knowledge & Learning Events Manager for the Centre for the Moving Image (incorporating Edinburgh International Film Festival & Filmhouse Cinema), the event will include speakers from venues and festivals across the UK. The full programme will be announced soon.
This training is designed for participants working in film exhibition who have either recently set up a Young Programmers group or are planning to do so. It is important to consider whether your organisation has the capacity to set up and manage a Young Programmers group on a long-term basis.
Advance booking is essential and tickets cost £15. For more information and to book your place please visit Film Hub Scotland’s website.
If you would really like to attend but are struggling to cover costs please get in touch to discuss how Film Hub North West Central can help.
This event is supported by BFI FAN’s Young Programmers’ Network and Discovery Film Festival.
